Faculty Description

The Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of the Turkish-German University was founded on the basis of Turkish-German academic partnership. This partnership was established by the guiding principle of an ever increasing international education and research cooperation and by the belief that academic and intercultural interaction and knowledge/experience transfer is a win-win for all parties involved. In accordance with this cooperation, the curricula of the programs at the Faculty are designed in conjunction with our German partner universities. The Department of Business Administration cooperates with Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the Department of Economics with the University of Hohenheim and the Department of Political Science and International Relations cooperates with its counterpart at the University of Cologne.

The medium of instruction in all our undergraduate programs is German and the education period encompasses four years. Our students who do not speak German or whose level of German is not sufficient to follow an academic program have the chance to learn German during preparatory classes before their undergraduate education on campus at our Foreign Language Institute.

The academic staff of the Faculty consists of Turkish academics, most of whom possess international education and teaching experience. Moreover, each department has one permanent German faculty member who is specialized in the relevant field, as well as multiple visiting faculty members from Germany to teach at the Faculty. In addition to teaching, our Faculty’s goal is to contribute to scientific studies in the national and international arena through publications, scientific projects and other scientific activities carried out by our Faculty members.

Furthermore, the departments of the Faculty aim to establish double degree programs with their respective partner universities in Germany. For example, the Department of Business Administration has already established a double degree program with Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The other departments of the Faculty are also in the process of laying the groundwork to establish double degree programs.

Due to our strong relations with Germany, we have a unique advantage compared to other Faculties in Turkey. Our students pursue their studies in an international environment where they have contact with foreign students studying at our Faculty and with foreign guest lecturers who visit our Faculty. Moreover, many of our students have the opportunity to study at universities abroad, especially in Germany. To make this possible, Erasmus+ programs and double degree programs are available to our students. These opportunities allow many of our students to gain education abroad and to develop their foreign languages skills.

The goal of our programs is to train graduates who are familiar with national and global issues and challenges in their fields of study and are able to offer solutions, who have advanced critical and analytical thinking skills, who possess strong communication skills, and who are open to innovation and prone to teamwork. We believe that these characteristics will endow our graduates with the necessary tools to pursue careers in the public as well as national and international private sectors.
