Academic Visit to Munich by Our Faculty Members

Prof. Dr. Müge Klein and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiydem Çatak, faculty members of the Department of Business Administration at the Turkish-German University; Research Assistants Merve Ahter Dede, Umur Ejder Halhallı, and Esra Eraslan from the Department of Business Administration; and Zehra Halhallı, Research Assistant in the Department of Political Science and International Relations; along with Associate Professor Dr. Ayşe Elif Posos Devrani and Research Assistant İrem Dölen from the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences at the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences, engaged in academic exchanges with various universities and institutions in Munich, Germany, from June 2–5, 2026, to discuss the development of international collaborations.
The program commenced with a visit to the Faculty of Economics and the Institute of Econometrics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). During a meeting with Prof. Dr. Derya Uysal, the participants exchanged views on current academic research, areas of expertise, and potential opportunities for future collaboration. The delegation also gained insights into the university’s academic structure and ongoing activities.
On the second day, the delegation visited TUM International, located within Munich Urban Colab. Following an institutional presentation and a guided tour, representatives introduced Turkish-German University and the TGU Technopark. Discussions focused on potential opportunities for academic and research-based cooperation between the institutions. Later that day, the delegation visited the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability (IES) Unit at LMU School of Management. During meetings with Prof. Dr. Ali Aslan Gümüşay and Jay Wang, participants exchanged ideas on current developments in entrepreneurship, sustainability, and innovation.
The program also included a visit to the NS-Dokumentationszentrum München, where the delegation learned about the institution’s work on historical memory, democracy, and social awareness.
On 5 June, the TGU delegation participated in a research workshop at IU International University and held discussions on the university’s academic structure and research activities. During the workshop, Zehra Halhallı introduced Turkish-German University, while Merve Ahter Dede, Umur Ejder Halhallı, İrem Dölen, and Esra Erarslan presented their research project entitled “Die Wirkung KI-gestützter Karriereberatung auf die Karriereplanungsprozesse von Studierenden: Eine experimentelle Studie” (“The Impact of AI-Supported Career Counseling on Students’ Career Planning Processes: An Experimental Study”). The project attracted considerable interest from participants and led to productive discussions regarding future research collaborations.
As part of the academic program, the delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Munich. During the meeting with Consul General Süalp Erdoğan and Education Attaché Dr. Akın Deveci, discussions focused on strengthening academic relations with universities in Munich, addressing challenges faced by Turkish students in Southern Bavaria, exploring potential areas of inter-university cooperation, increasing participation in Turkish Language and Turkish Culture courses, and enhancing institutional collaboration between Turkish-German University, the Consulate General, and the Office of the Education Attaché.
The delegation’s engagements in Munich contributed to Turkish-German University’s internationalization efforts by strengthening academic ties with higher education institutions in Germany and establishing a solid foundation for future joint research and educational initiatives.
