As part of the “TGU Masterclass in Economics 2026,” organized by the Department of Economics at the Turkish-German University, the internationally recognized economist and faculty member at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, Jesús Crespo Cuaresma, visited our university.
Within the scope of the program, Prof. Dr. Crespo Cuaresma delivered a lecture addressing the historical evolution and future prospects of absolute poverty worldwide. In his presentation, he shared analytical tools developed together with his research teams that are highly relevant for economic policy analysis.
The event also included a discussion session on the implications of global uncertainty and technological transformation for the economics profession. Faculty members and students exchanged views in light of current developments.
Prof. Cuaresma visited the Turkish-German University following an invitation by Prof. Elif Nuroğlu and Prof. Guido Neidhöfer, exchanged ideas, discussed current research agendas, and gave advice to faculty and students.
